Palazzo Puro book on a weathered Italian table

How the book began

A crumbling villa.
A mystery from the past.

Mirella falls in love with a crumbling villa nestled in the rolling hills of the Marche region in Italy. Despite her husband's and teenage son's objections, she buys the house from two elderly sisters who inherited it without knowing why. A mystery from the past still shrouds the estate.

As Mirella restores the villa and becomes entwined with local Italian life, old love letters lead her to a secret that has been guarded for generations.

In 1939, young net weaver Sofia dreams of escape — and of forbidden love with Danilo, the factory director's son. But when war breaks out, everything changes, and Sofia is left to navigate a life not of her own choosing. The decisions she makes will haunt her forever.

Decades later, Mirella wonders if she can unravel the closely guarded family secret, or if it will remain hidden for good.

Set among olive groves and vineyards, Palazzo Puro is a moving tale of love, friendship, betrayal, and heart-wrenching choices in the heart of Italy.
